Serena is Emily's best friend, and has been since their childhood. She is not a student at the academy (because she feels she's not ready for the rigorous training and lifestyle that comes with being a student), but she is known throughout the Pallat region for her abilities as a sorceress. She was born with magic abilities, and took lessons from another magician when she was a child so she could learn to harness her powers.

Serena's beauty, charm and mystery attract men from many walks of life (even Daniel and Brandon, for a short time). She seems to take no notice of this. She becomes good friends with Nora, but otherwise stays out of everyone else's business unless it directly affects her.
